Head Boys Track Coach Pat Mallory
Coach Mallory went to Indiana University where he played football and graduated in 2000. Coach Mallory’s first job was at Center Grove High School, where he was an assistant football and track coach, the 2008 team captured the 5A state title, and the 2011 Boys won the school’s first Track State Championship. After 10 years at CG, Coach Mallory took over as the Head Coach of Football and Track at Knightstown High School. The 2012 Track Team, broke three school records that ranged from 25-36 years old. The 100, 200, and 4×400 meter relay. In 2012, Knightstown sent the most athletes on to the Regional Level in school history: one 100 participant, 2 in the 200, 1 pole vault, 1 long jump, the 4×100 meter relay team, the 4×400 meter relay team, and 1 discus. Since taking over the reigns of the LN track program, the Wildcats have won three straight sectional titles from 2014-2016. The 2016 track team placed 5th in the state and the program has produced two individual state champions and several all-state athletes, including the 2019 National champion pole vaulter and Indiana Mr. Track & Field, Nathan Stone. After finishing runner-up at the MIC, Marion County, and IHSAA Sectional meets, the 2022 team won the IHSAA Regional for the first time since 2003.
Coach Mallory has three children; Honour, Cale, and Breck.
Head Girls Track Coach Mickie Barsic
Coach Mickie Barsic is entering her 12th year as a XC and track coach in Lawrence Township. She has been the head track coach since 2021. As a product of Lawrence Township schools, Coach Barsic has a vested interest in continuing the tradition of excellence among the community running programs from which she came. Many of Coach Barsic's athletes have gone on to have great success in the collegiate ranks. Some of her former athletes have run or are currently running at Loyola, Dayton, Ball State, Butler, IUPUI, UIndy, Alabama A&M, Prairie View A&M, Texas A&M, and Oregon. The 2022 and 2023 teams won the IHSAA Sectional Championship.
Barsic is now in her 13th year as an educator, currently teaching art at Lawrence North. She enjoys being by the water, hiking, camping, painting, sculpting, drinking coffee, and spending time with her husband, Tim, and their two boys, Jaxson and Chase.
