Coach Cox has coached at Lawrence North for 18 years, completing his 14th year as the head coach after the 2025 season. During his time as head coach, the team has won two Marion County championships (2015, 2016), two MIC championships (2023, 2025), and three IHSAA Sectional championships (2017, 2024, 2025). He has an overall record of 274-202 (72-20 MIC). He was selected as the Lawrence North Coach of the Year in 2017-18.
Coach Cox and his staff have produced 5 Indiana All-Stars (Emily Meng, Maddie Dean, Lauren Matthews, Charity McDowell, Kaitlin Fasbender ), 3 All-State first teamers, 4 All-State second teamers, 27 All-Marion County players, 36 All-MIC players, and 37 players who were named Academic All-State. Thirty-nine players have gone on to the next level, including 20 at Division-I programs and two being named All-Americans.
He serves as an Executive Board member for the Indiana High School Volleyball Coaches Association as well as the Marion County Coaches of Girls Sports Association. He was also on the Volleyball Committee for the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports (ICGSA).
Coach Cox has been instrumental in reenergizing the All-Star matches. He served as All-Star Coordinator with the ICGSA and the IHSVCA. During his tenure, the event has grown from 28 players to 112 players.
He is a 1975 Lawrence Central graduate and is a member of the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame for football. Coach Cox played two years of baseball at Rose-Hulman and graduated from IU in 1980. He has one daughter, Sophia.
