The MSD of Lawrence Township celebrated NBA player, Mike Conley just prior to the LC/LN Game on Friday night, inducting him into the Lawrence North High School Alumni Hall of Fame. Mike is a 2006 Lawrence North High School graduate. Mike led Lawrence North to three IHSAA State Championships and was named an Indiana All-Star. After graduating from Lawrence North, he attended the Ohio State University, where his leadership on and off the court was a model for others. Coach Matta supported Mike's decision to enter the NBA draft after his freshman year and he was selected as the fourth overall pick.
A 6-foot-1 point guard, Mike Conley joined the Utah Jazz in July of 2019 after spending the first 12 years of his NBA career with the Memphis Grizzlies. Conley led the Grizzlies to six playoff appearances during his time in Memphis, averaging 16.5 points and 6.7 assists over 56 career playoff games. During the 2018-2019 season, Conley averaged 21.1 points (a new career high), 6.4 assists, 1.3 steals, and 2.2 3-pointers per game, and on March 28, 2019, he passed Marc Gasol to become the Grizzlies' all-time leading scorer. Conley was named the NBA Sportsman of the Year in 2014, 2016, and 2019. He was named the 2019 teammate of the Year.
