Welcome to Lawrence North High School, Home of the Wildcats! Our Wildcats captured four Marion County Championships, five Sectional Championships, five Regional Championships, three Semi-State Championships, three Conference Championships, and finally, THREE IHSAA State Championships. Even with that much success, we are looking forward to the 2008 school year to be even better! We hope to see you here at LN this year, rooting on our Wildcats!!

 

meet our athletic directors

GRANT NESBIT has served as the Director of Athletics since 2003 and has been with Lawrence North since 2001. Nesbit began his career at Greenfield-Central High School where he was the Assistant Athletics Director, Partners in Education Coordinator, Varsity Wrestling Coach, and teacher of Psychology and Government. As the wrestling coach, he served as a regional representative of the Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association, was named the Conference Coach of the Year and had six state finalists. Nesbit earned his Bachelors Degree at Ball State University, majoring in Secondary Education and Psychology. He earned his Masters Degree at Butler University, studying Educational Administration. He is a member of the Indiana Interscholastic Athletic Administration Association and the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association. He has been published nationally in Athletic Management and the National Federation of High Schools' Interscholastic Athletic Administration. Locally, he has been a speaker before the Indiana Association of School Principals and the Indiana Principals Leadership Academy. In the community, he serves as a Board Member of Best Buddies Indiana, a group devoted to helping individuals with intellectual disabilities. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, boating, and other outdoor activities.

Jim Zeller is in his third year as Lawrence North’s Assistant Athletic Director (20th year as an athletic administrator) and 23rd year in education. He was most recently an Athletic Director at Decatur Central for six years and Athletic Director at Bishop Chatard High School for 11 years. Jim graduated from Bloomington South High School and lettered in football and baseball. He played collegiately at Wheaton College, Wheaton, Illinois and earned seven varsity letters in football (3) and baseball (4). Academically, he was on the Dean’s list for six grading periods. Jim attended Indiana University and received his MS degree in 1982. Mr. Zeller’s first teaching position was at Grace Brethren Christian School (Clinton, Maryland) where he taught Math and Physical Education and coached basketball and baseball for three years. From there, he went to Bishop Chatard High School and coached baseball for five years and served as the Athletic Director. Jim’s family includes wife, Wendie, who is a personal trainer, sons Justin (15) and Jacob (10), and daughter, Julia (12). All three kids are active in athletics. Jim’s hobbies include jogging, woodworking, and following the Wildcats!
