Lawrence Central and Lawrence North high schools both offer a wide range of Advanced Placement courses, offering students the opportunity to take courses with more challenging college-level content. Because these are college-level (freshmen) courses they usually require significantly more time and effort than the typical high school level class. Most use college level textbooks. The AP science courses may require additional laboratory work outside of the school day due to the specialized nature of laboratory work. AP courses are weighted.
Students who complete AP courses are eligible to take the AP exams and may qualify for college credit at most colleges and universities.
